and stunning that his name went right out of my head and even when I started to write up my diary when I got back to the squadron I could not remember it. I can hardly believe that he has not written to you because he was so wonderfully impressed by our darling old Roger's bravery & resignation. Anyway he would have written in the ordinary course, so he must have done so under such wonderful circumstances. He was an English Padré not an Australian.
I had letters from Maurice & Bryan the other day. Bryan is only slightly wounded in many places and he doubts very much if he can is bad enough to be sent to England. Poor old Maurice had a wonderful escape but is getting on well though he will be laid up for a good while. Is'nt it a wonderful stroke of luck that they are both in the same hospital and sharing a room!
I got your cable about the present for Eileen Lyons and have drawn £10 & will send a cheque to-day to Mrs Toohey to buy them something that they have not already been given.
Today (Friday) I got a letter from Eileen posted on 29th of June. She enclosed a very nice snapshot of darling little Roger and some of a lot of soldiers resting in front of the house. I am awfully glad to have them all.
