On arriving back here I carried on with the old work of instructing with great energy through the week – and then the storm that has been gathering so long burst on us! It is hard at present to definitely follow the course of events that led up to it, but I told you when I came here that I was coming to an awful "dud" show. Since I came here I have worked my best but the whole station was rotten to the core and beyond doing my own little job conscientiously I could do nothing. The men lived like pigs and noone took any interest in their comfort. Everything was simply hopeless.
During the week a Major Bentley arrived and though not actually in command he was virtually over everyone. Though not a pilot, he is a very fine administrator and started out to clean up the Orgean Stables. After his arrival the fun really started and the upheaval has been simply colossal. I believe every one of the three squadron commanders has been very badly reported on and all of them will go. Major Clarke, my O.C., got an awful report, and on Sunday he went away and I think he will be reduced. The result is that from
