The camp is just perfect with the river on either side. On one side there is a wier and we always have the sound of running water which is most refreshing on a hot summer day. This morning I had a swim in the river before breakfast & though it was tame enough after the surf it was awfully nice.  I have hired a canoe by the week and am now lying in it as I write – hence the pencil and the bad writing! It is a lovely warm summers day and having two hours off duty I decided to spend it writing letters on the river. Altogether I am awfully pleased at the move we have had – it is so nice to be more or less out in the country in summer, and still to be with the same squadron. I feel much keener on my work here where the surroundings are so nice and a change of scene always bucks one up. I have been going like a nigger the last two days from 4 a.m. till 10 pm!

I think I told you in my last letter about my new dual control and my troubles with the instructors who left every thing to me. Since then things have been re-arranged and all the machines of the type I have been working so hard to popularise have been put into one flight under one of the flight commanders – Elliot – and I am assistant instructor. Of course I am actually the authority on the machines though I am under him. He is an awful loafer and I can't trust him in any way.  I told you that he
