Geoffrey darling,

Can you just imagine the joy we felt when dear Auntie Mary's cable came to say you would be in England on the 18th!! We hardly dared to hope for such a thing so soon & were not expecting it. Daddy had gone to Katoomba the night before as he had a case there & he wanted me to go up with him but I did not care to do so as it was there he got the terrible news of darling Roger & I think it was the same case in an earlier stay that he was engaged in there. The office rang me up to say there was a simple cable would they open it & I got a great fright & was almost afraid to have it read to me however the fact that it was not a War office
