squadron but a Flight Group, which is a captain's command only though it is really equal to two flights & so is a sort of superior flight commanders' job. Collier considers it a step up for him to go from Examining Officer to Flight Group Commander so I suppose it is a sort of reverse to me! However that aspect does not worry me for I think I can make a good showing in this job and so long as I am doing useful work I don't mind whether it is a step up or not.
My present job is a curious one and really I can make just what I like of it. Of course I intend to make a lot of it but it is really a soft job if one likes to treat it as such. As you will see from the address I live now at the Wing. I am the Colonel's adviser on all things relating to instruction in every squadron in the Wing. I have an assistant and two machines for our own use. I visit any squadron I please and take up instructors and test their flying & instruction. Also I can take up
