I held my fire till I was within 50 yards of him and just as I opened fire I caught a glimpse of the observer craning over the side trying to see me. A burst of 50 rounds must have finished the observer, for the Hun turned east and as he turned I could see the observer's gun pointing aimlessly upwards. As he was turning another of my lads fired a burst of 100 rounds at him while I turned east to cut off his retreat. He came across my bow with his nose down raceing for home and as he passed I let him have another burst of 50 rounds. Immediately he dived vertically with smoke
