France. There is apparently some trouble about replacing me in this squadron at the moment. Seeing that I have to go I am hoping that it will be early in the winter with No 62 Squadron as I want to be back before the summer starts.
I am doing very well in this squadron with my flight of Fighters, and given good weather during the next week should turn out a record number of pilots this month. I believe the Colonel is very pleased and he told one of our chaps the other day that he wished he could have Hughes as one of his squadron commanders! So I really think that if I go out soon I would be back very soon.
I have been having such a cheery time here and have really enjoyed it immensely. People have been awfully good to me and I have had lots of fun. I wish you I wish Mummy would write to Mrs Vidal and thank her for all she has done for me, as she has been awfully kind. Her address is The Rectory, Barnsley, Cirencester, Gloucestershire. I think I told you about them in one of my other letters. Mrs. Vidal is a real good sort and has simply done everything to make things cheery for me. It has been such a treat to have some nice people to go and see and it has made such a difference to the
