her plans are for the future, & we have not asked. The whole business is a bit of a nuisance to Mother, as the Keenans seem to be gradually drifting back to Sydney again, but I tell Mother she must not worry about them. The two of them here now don't consult us about their affairs, so why should we interfere?

Mother will have told you all about our visit to Leura for Peter's birthday on Monday last. Mr. Maher turned up there also, so all the grandparents were there in honour of the event. Peter is the "King of the Castle" with a vengeance, & Eileen must be pleased with the devotion of the grandmothers & grandfathers to him. He looks splendid, with his fair hair & bright blue eyes that no photograph can reproduce, & he is just dear Roger's gift to us all, so extraordinarily fair and merry amongst all the dark Maher family who simply workship him. Barbara Mullins arrived at Leura for a week with Eileen just as we were leaving. She is also one of Peter's most ardent admirers. In fact we fear sometimes lest she should make John Richard Norris jealous. Young John Norris, or "Bubbles", or Pinky, or any other of the dozen names he has, is a splendid sturdy little chap nearly two years old now, but very shy and difficult to make friends with.
