My own Darling Mother & Father,
Since I last wrote I have had two letters of Mothers dated April 17th & May 2nd. I simply loved them as I always do. I have just sent on your letter to Rowe with a note from myself telling him to let me know anything he wants. I sent him a couple of hundred cigarettes some time ago & will send him some more.
I have just had a wire from Aunty saying that Bryan is safe in Hospital after four glorious days of the great battle. His only trouble is a badly sprained ankle – so the news is splendid. I am so glad that Aunty has this relief from her great anxiety. Poor old Aunty has an awful lot of anxiety with all the various boys in France one time or another. She is simply wonderful & is splendid to us all.
I am awfully sad about dear old "Willie" Redmond
