I rose early and went to Mass & Holy Communion at Westminster Cathedral. I saw the St George's Chapel with darling old Roger's name on the marble slab in the wall. I had to return to Witney in the morning & did a bit of flying. On arriving back I found a great treat in store, as all my letters that had been chaseing me over France had arrived. So at last I got my missing home mail – Mothers No 23 & Father's of the 4th April. It was grand to get them and know how delighted my own darling Mummy & Daddy were over my M.C. The happiness that it brought you was to me everything in getting it.
I got a grand mail with lots of letters from others congratulating me. I also got the bundle of letters etc you got – it is very decent of all those people to write & I know how my old Mummy & Daddy appreciated them. I also got the sugar, biscuits & sweets & tea. They are such a treat – thank you ever ever so much. I gave a lot of the tea to Aunty Mary and took some to Mrs Vidal too. It was just a flavour of home to drink that old tea again. The sugar
