to all the aerodromes even in the windiest weather. It must have rather pricked the consciences of some of the instructors for yesterday evening we were at Witney and about 6 p.m. I said to Beaver that we would leave fly back to Oxford. I got into my machine & one of the flight commanders rushed up and started up my engine for me. I thought it was awfully decent of him but later learnt the reason. Earlier in the evening he had gone to Beaver & said, "Look here, Beaver, when are you going? We want to get off ourselves." Beaver said he did'nt think we would be leaving for a while as I had told him to test another pupil. The other said, "Can't you persuade Sammy to go - he's a dashed good chap but he's too keen on flying"! We simply roared laughting over it later.
By the time you get this letter you may have news that your "infint" has been promoted. I have been told
