No. 10.

Beaulieu
7th December.

My own darling Mother & Father,

As I told you in my cable on the 29th November, I have your dear letters of 16th October – Mothers No 10 & duplicate No 9 & also Fathers. I am hoping to get another mail soon now. I had no news to tell you since my last letter as things were very quiet with us up to a few days ago. However I now have several bits of news to tell you.

At last I have my dear old Bristol Fighters once again and have handed my flight over to Davis who was with 38 Squadron when we were at Rendcomb. I am very glad to have the flight of Bristols as the work is far more interesting. It is mostly teaching the almost finished pupils to do the ordinary "stunts" and how to fight and fly in formation. I felt very weary of doing dual control with elementary pupils, though I did it cheerfully enough. Ones temper is apt to get ragged after having done over 200 hours dual control and having to keep on preventing pupils (who seem to grow stupider every day) from doing things that would mean disaster!

As it is I now have very little such instruction to do
