My own darling Geoffrey

We have had your two cable one of June 5th from Witney which we find is near Oxford. It came on June 13th, & the one for my birthday sent on 18th, & arriving on 20th, & then your dear letter after you returned to France dated April 4th. When we now read these living splendid letters & really know what you had to face out there we thank God from our hearts that he has kept you safe through all dangers. How sad to think that of your little band of twelve, nine have been wounded & poor Allen gone. We can read of it all knowing you are out of it but our pride & faith in you dearest are just increased one hundred fold.
