now about six miles from our lines and I was well content with a rather successful mornings work and turned west to cross the lines. Just as I did so I saw to my horror one of my lads unable to resist the temptation begin to dive on the Huns below us! It was a fatal blunder and as I started to attack myself I used awful language about the fool who had let us in for this and completely spoiled at the last minute my carefully carried out plans. I knew that immediately we attacked we would have the other ten on us from above, but we could'nt let the one machine go down above. The fight that followed was simply undescribable & I can only give my own impressions of what I saw in
