My own darling Mother & Father,

Here I am back at Rendcomb once more after four excellent days leave in London with Aunty, the girls and old Bryan. It was really most enjoyable and I feel far fitter and keener after the few days rest. Just before I left here at lunch time on Thursday I got an Australian mail – letters from you both dated July 19th & some lovely snapshots of the darling little baby from Eileen. So you can imagine that I started off on my leave feeling very happy.

I got to Porchester Terrace in time to have tea with the family. Bryan is looking splendid though slightly thinner than last time I saw him. He is a magnificent old chap and must be a splendid soldier. We had great old yarns about everything that has happened in the last six months.

We all went to dinner at the Trocadero where Jack D'Apice joined us. Afterwards we went to the Adelphi & saw a musical comedy "The Boy." It was a very good show – W.H. Berry was particularly good. There I met Garland who shared a room with me in 10 Squadron – I had not seen him since I left the
