could not be allowed by the Army people. Hence the meeting of protest last night at which Archbishop Kelly presided, & Dr. Mannix & Fr. O'Reilly spoke, but what they said nobody but those at the meeting knows, as all mention of the meeting was censored out of all the papers today.
And now I find I have been rambling on & talking about all sorts of things except the one thing we are always thinking about, & that is yourself. We were tremendously proud when we got Auntie Mary's cablegram with the news that you had bagged the first Hun for your new squadron. We know it means danger for you, dear, but we also know that you want to do your very best & that you are doing it. May God & His Blessed Mother guard you in all your ways.
The latest news of you was a cablegram "Geoffrey well & cheery. Hughes" which was dated 4th March & was received by us on the 8th. None of your letters since Christmas (No 11, I think) have reached us, but the mails are most irregular & we are practically dependent now on the Frisco & Vancouver boats. My last letter to you was dated 27th February by the "Niagara".
