the morning. I had just got my orders from him and was writing out orders for my flight when the C.O. flourished a leave warrant in front of me & said "You & Claye go on leave at 9 in the morning"!! Of course I rushed off to tell Claye the glad news & we turned in about 1 am leaving our packing till the morning. Next day we left a 9 am and saw all our lads going off on the show as we sailed away. We got to London on the afternoon of the 19th & parted at Victoria. I rushed straight off to Cooling & Lawrence & ordered a suit of mufti as I want to get out of uniform for a bit. When I got to Ford's Hotel the family were all out but came in later & got the surprise of their lives on seeing me! We had a great old yarn & went to bed about midnight.
Bryan & Maurice had gone off to Fowey but and Aunty & Mary were going next day but when I arrived they put off their departure till Thursday. Cicely & Austin also came to town & I saw them.
On Wednesday (20th) I cabled you that I was on leave – as I knew it would be a relief for your anxiety. In the evening we all went to see "Flora", a good musical show with Gertie Millar in the leading part.
Next day I saw Aunty & Mary safely into their train & did various odd jobs. In the evening I found a Thé Dansant at
