My own darling Mother & Father,
I know how glad you must be to know that I am now back in England again thanks to Aunty Mary's efforts on your behalf. At present I am on leave and will be going to Cornwall to Aunty & the others in a few days. I went to Harefield & spent an afternoon & evening with Cis & Austie, & they are coming to dinner and a theatre with me tonight. I have been rushing round since my arrival fixing up my surplus kit etc. As I arrived on the Saturday evening before Whitsunday everything was closed till yesterday and I nearly went bankrupt while waiting for the end of the bank holidays – a state of affairs I could have avoided before leaving France if only I had thought of the holidays!
