chances of promotion nowadays are almost nil, and were it not in a specialist job such as mine I fear they would be nil. Once they make me a Major (Flying) (to use the technical description) I will be all right, for unless I make a mess of things I will never go back to Flight Commander.
I have been out today to lunch with some people called Burrows. Mrs. Burrows is Australian but they have been living here for a long time. They are awfully nice people and have a nice home here. I met there a girl called Sydney Wilkinson whom I used to know in the days of the old Government House parties when we were kids. She was one of the famous Fistergirls in Mrs. McCormicks set at the Civil Ambulance Ball at the Town Hall. You will remember the outbreak of measles or something after the set had its photo taken at Freemans!
