obeying orders & doing your duty wherever you were sent, & that is what everyone knows & says of you. I just longed for you to get some recognition for all the splendid work you put in for the past two years, & now that it has come I don't care how soon you are sent back to England to train fellows or do anything else till you get your majority. Young George Mullins told Mother quite calmly this afternoon that you would have a bar to your M.C. & a D.S.O. in less than no time. We can picture dear Roger smiling down on you & saying as he always used to say "You know, Daddy, that kid is simply sure to make his mark in whatever he takes up!" We have had endless congratulations from people on the telephone, & in the street, & by telegram, card, & letter.
I was just in bed with a chill for a few days when the news came, & old General Finn came up to my room, & sang your praises like anything. He said "He was always such a determined youngster", & I thought "Yes". "I remember one instance of that at any rate!" And so here we are like peacocks with two tails, as proud of our little 'infint' as ever we can be, and only praying that God will bring him safely through all dangers.
