was a good man, & a great friend of Roger & you, & always enquired eagerly for news of you. His death (from consumption) was a happy release to him after a long illness. R.I.P.
Fr. Gartlan promises to come & have dinner with us next week. He was always very fond of you boys, & he wants to hear the latest news of you. I have promised to show him the accounts of some of your scraps.
Mother & I are of course quite left to ourselves nowadays, as Eileen & Peter are at Collaroy. Before Peter went away, he had enlarged his story of Uncle Geoffrey to what dear old Aunt Liz, when she was a kiddie, used to call "an act".
"Where does Uncle Geoffrey go?"
Answer (with his little arms held high over his head)
"Far-far-far-way-way-way."
What does he do?
Answer: "Bang-bang-bang."
Whom does he shoot?
Answer: "H-h-h-uns!

Eileen writes to say that he has great times with the Clive children, & that he is learning new words every day. Mrs. Maher has been apparently rather ill, but Eileen writes that she is very much better again.
