any instructor's pupil and test him, so generally I keep an eye on the work. I have also to sign a report on every crash that takes place and say whether I think it was anyone's fault. There are so many things that indirectly affect the quality of the instruction that I have to keep in touch with everything that goes on in the Wing. So really if I do my job thoroughly it is a very big and important one and I can do an awful lot if the Colonel backs me up.
In many ways it is a pleasant job for I am more or less free and simply go down to the aerodrome & take out my machine & fly to one or another of the aerodromes & see what is going on & take up anyone I want to test. There is also a certain amount of office work to do. It is a job that has only come into existence quite recently and so there is nothing very definite about it.
