Maurice is still in France but should be over soon. I think it is just as well that he is kept over there till he is quite fit to travel, although we are naturally longing to see the old boy again.
Bryan has gone back to his regiment but should be over on leave very soon.
No doubt you will be surprised to see my new address. I came here last Monday from Oxford – much to my sorrow. Since I last wrote there have been great battles about my leaving old 17 T.S. and I have put off writing until the wavering battle ended one way or another. As you see by the address the battle has ended in defeat. Here is the whole story rather condensed.
On August 30th our adjutant was suddenly sent for to go overseas. This news came of that in the morning – a Friday. The C.O. was due to go away for a course of instruction lasting a fortnight. You may well imagine that that left things pretty much in a mess – no C.O. & no adjutant. Then to cap everything the Colonel rang up the C.O. and told him that he wanted Hughes posted to Rendcomb!! That was the last straw for poor old Major Henderson.
