from old Theo. I was amazed to hear he was in London. We had a very cheery evening together. He has come over here to join the R.F.C. as an observer. I am sure Mrs Thompson will be glad to know that as it is a far better job than the field artillery. It was grand to see the old chap again. He had seen Bryan in France just before Bryan developed measles & went back to hospital.

My next bit of luck was when old Pearson – my old observer – turned up here the other day by air. I had'nt heard of him for some time and did'nt know where he was. Imagine my surprise when a machine landed on the aerodrome & out stepped Pearson! He is a pilot now & flies quite well. We had great old yarns together – he stayed here the night. He got through his flying very quickly – just a month from the time he started. I took a lot of photos of him & will send you some if they turn out well – I am sure you will be interested to see the observer of whom I all always spoke.  He is a mad old man – he "looped the loop" seven times over the aerodrome before he left! Isn't it funny to think of his doing that already when his old pilot has never done it at all! We had a great time talking over the great times we had together in France & all the adventures we had together. I produced a lot of the notes he had written to me in the air, which I have kept, and we had many a laugh over the little incidents they recalled.
