can thoroughly grasp the present state of things before I start any plans for my own little improvements. As you may imagine it is not a job that increases one's popularity with the squadrons, for no one likes being hustled, but with a little care and tact an awful lot can be done. I'm afraid my predecessor rather put some people's noses out of joint, and I don't think he accomplished very much.
We live in quite a nice home here with a small garden & a tennis court so it is an immense improvement on Witney. The first night here there was a small dance on so life is fairly cheery. On Tuesday we nearly all went to a dance at Rendcourt that was arranged by Segrave & some others. It was a very good show & most enjoyable.
I am finishing this letter on the 24th as I put it aside and have been busy since then. I had a very sore chin for a few days. I got a sort of abscess on the fleshy part of my chin
