and for some days it was very sore. However it came to a head inside my mouth and I got it lanced the other day. It is quite all right now. I had a short visit to Barnsley last Thursday & stayed the night with the Vidals. The two girls were home on leave so it was very nice.
I am getting well into my new job now and quite like it. I have just had a particularly busy day as I had to spend all my time in the office checking all sorts of complicated returns.
A fresh supply of foodstuffs have arrived & thank you ever & ever so much. The boiled sweets, sugar & butter are most excellent. A very small mail came the other day – a letter from Eileen & one of Mother's duplicates only.
Isn't the war news good these days? It is such a relief to feel that our initiative is not altogether lost. I have great faith in old Foch & his counter offensive seems to be a masterpiece of well calculated surprise. Is'nt history nearly repeating itself and almost on the same field?
