Today the Australian Club gave a lunch to Sir Walter Davidson our new Governor, & I met heaps of fellows who went enquiring after you, – Frim, d'Apice, Tom Raine, Prof. McCallum, Kelso King, Hanbury Davies, Garland, & any number of others. They were all delighted to hear that you have done so well, & sent you their kindest remembrances.
I posted you an "Alma Mater which ought to go by this mail. I also sent one to Auntie Mary.
Frank looks very smart in his new uniform, & is in training with the artillery at Liverpool. I don't think it will be long before he is sent to England to complete his training.
Evie Keenan seems to have got some work in the Defence Department, but he has been discharged from the Army as medically unfit.
Wednesday morning, 13th March.
I left this open in case I had more news but nothing has happened, & I want to post in good time. The Legislative Council sat till midnight & I got home to Mother at nearly one in the morning.
Heaps of love & good luck
from Your loving father
Thomas Hughes.
