he had a job in view for me that would be suitable for my Gosport qualification. I said that I was quite willing to do anything I was ordered & left it at that. So now I imagine there is a considerable battle rageing as to whether I am to go or stay!! It is rather amusing and quite flattering in a way. It is something to be wanted to stay in a show so colossally "dud" as this! Looking at it from an ambitious point of view I think there is more opportunity for promotion by staying here if I am a success in the end! Personally I am sort of neutral about it all as there is the choice between a pleasanter job and a gamble for promotion. Quite apart from that somewhat selfish outlook I have a feeling right down in the bottom of my heart that I don't want to leave this job! I can't quite understand it for this is a rotten uncomfortable station in every way and the job is a perfect terror. Still I suppose I'm really a bit fond of a good battle, and having got through the very worst part of it and started planning and organising my campaign I do want to see it through.
