So long as we kept circling neither could use his front gun but immediately the Hun came out of his turn I had him with my front gun, as he had to keep on. But all the time I had him on my wing tips only about twenty yards away and a perfect shot for Claye. We went round & round & I could not understand why Claye wasn't firing. His gun mounting had broken and he could'nt get a single shot at the Hun because his gun wouldn't swing!!! It was just the worst bit of luck on earth. Anyway I kept on after the hun & he was so intent on keeping out of my front gun that he never saw another of our machines which dived from above & shot him down. With Claye's
