few days later. I felt it very very much as he was a grand chap & we did a lot of work together. It hits you very hard when one who for a time shared the same dangers as yourself & on whom you depended so much is called to join so many others of our bravest & dearest. I have some photos of him that I will send to his father.

Last Sunday we had a day off & I motored to London & saw Aunty & the girls. Pethybridge lent me his little car for the day & I took another chap with me. We had a splendid run. Mrs. Toohey was round to see us after lunch & was very pleased about Eileen's engagement. They want me to be best man at the wedding on August 2nd & I am getting leave for it.
