I have any thought or fear of things going wrong. So at present at any rate my nerves are as sound as a bell and yet I am not in the least over confident.

As far as the material side of the question goes I have every reason to feel quite confident. We have magnificent machines which, taking them all round as fighting machines, are acknowledged by the men who do the work in the R.F.C. to be the finest machines in France, and they are certainly the machines the Huns most dread. Of course that gives us a great reputation to live up to and we have got to keep it up, but I can say quite truthfully that if I am any judge of a squadron we are going to keep it up. We really have a very fine lot of men both pilots & observers – far above the average.
