This is a cheerless place after Oxford. We live in huts on the aerodrome which is miles from anywhere. Cirencester is a very dull spot & it is five miles away. Cheltenham is a fair town I believe but is 12 miles away, so we are pretty isolated. I miss the river and everything that was so nice at Oxford and my little dog misses it too. However war is war & I am very lucky to have such a soft safe job and cannot complain. After all I cant expect to always have the best of stations & there are worse than this. There seem to be some very decent chaps here, though it is always a pest to be dumped in among a crowd of strangers. I dare say I will be quite happy when I settle down and get into my stride, but I can't help feeling rather sad at leaving the old squadron & coming to this. To add to the general cheeriness of my change of station I have had to attend a military funeral today of an officer who died as the result of an aeroplane accident here about a fortnight ago. 

So please forgive this long long grumble and don't think I am too miserable. Probably a few days leave will alter my outlook quite
