shopping & the rest with Maurice at the Hospital. He was in great form as he had just been out for a motor drive round London. It was the first glimpse of people for months so he was very bucked. He walked to the car on crutches – which was a great achievement. Really he is a wonderful old chap and a great favourite with his nurses & doctors who greatly admire his cheeriness & pluck. He is as bright and cheery and talks away in great old style. The one thing he cannot understand is anyone offering him sympathy!! Really it does one good to see him.

In the evening we all went to dinner at "Rendez-Vous" in Soho and afterwards to see "Theodore & Co" once more. We were the same party as the previous evening and had a very merry time. I had to catch the 5.50 am (!) this morning, so after seeing the others safely into the tube I wandered off to a small "pub" in Surrey St where I had taken a room so that I would be within walking distance of Waterloo at that dark & taxi-less hour. This morning I rose at 5 a.m, walked to Waterloo, caught the train, arrived on the aerodrome here at 9 am, and did a hard & strenuous days work!!

Seeing that I am now sitting up in bed at 10.30 p.m. and writing this letter to you & will have to be flying again at 7 am
