offer we have ever got, and I am sure Mrs. Toohey will be delighted to get out of of the place as it is much too big & expensive for her to keep up. When Maurice died, it was only valued at £9000, & we have had several years of war since then. I know Miss Egan would like to stop there, but Mark Sheldon & I think we have to consider Mrs. Toohey & the estate first.

Jowett has got into the Federal Parliament at last, & is now Edmund Jowett M.P. I think I told you he declined to stand for one of the Queensland places for the Senate at the last general election, but stood for Maribyrnong in Victoria instead. This was a strong Labour seat which he could'nt win, but lately Dr. Carty Salmon who sat for the Grampians in Victoria died, & now Jowett has got in at a bye-election. I sent him a note of congratulation yesterday. Did I tell you he is now a client of A. & A.? I knocked 10 quid [?] (as dear old Roger & you used to call them) out of him the other day. At first when he consulted me I didn't send him a bill, but when he seriously asked me to look after his interests here on a business footing, I send him memos of fees & get his cheque. He hasn't been in Sydney lately. Having taken to politics seriously he will, no doubt, drop dancing, & save himself much ridicule.

I mentioned wireless telegraphy some little time ago in one of my letters to you. I am now elected chairman of Directors of Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia) Ltd, & have attended my first meeting. The work promises to be interesting.

Today I went to St. Mary's Cathedral at twelve o'clock to join in the welcome to the new Apostolic Delegate, Monsignor Cattaneo. He is an older man by five or six years than
