My own darling Mother & Father,
Two days ago I got your letters written about September 5th – Mothers No 5 & duplicate No 4 and Father's letter of September 4th. I can't tell you how glad I was to have them. Your account of the strike turmoil is most interesting. It must have been awful & I am very glad to think that it all ended in victory for the Government. Fuller certainly seems to have handled the whole business most courageously and come through very well indeed. I also read a small paragraph in the "Times" that "Mr Jowett the Nationalist candidate" had been returned for some seat in Victoria. I suppose that must be Edmund Jowett and I am awfully pleased – do congratulate him for me if it is really he.
I dont know whether I told you in my last letter that the squadron (62), that I was to have gone overseas with, has been "washed out." I fancy the news came the very evening just as I posted that letter. The squadron has gone back to training work once more and goodness knows
