His Excellency the Governor received Brigadier John Foster yesterday.
His Excellency the Governor and Lady Davidson entertained at luncheon yesterday a party connected with the Premier's Conference. The following were present: – Mr. and Mrs. Holman, Mr. Lawson, Mr. and Mrs. Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Lefroy, Mr. and Mrs. Lee, Sir Richard Butler, Lady Butler and Miss Butler, Mr. and Mrs Garland, Sir Elliot Lewis and Lady Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Fitzpatrick, Mr. and Mrs. Peake, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller, Mr. and Mrs. Moule, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore, Mr. MacPherson, Mr. Gardiner, Mr. Joynton Smith, Mr. Budge.
The Governor was present last night at the Swords Club. He was attended by Captain Stanham and Captain Saltmarshe.
The Minister for Recruiting (Mr. R. B. Orchard), who went on to Brisbane after seeing the "March to Freedom" tour inaugurated at Armidale, will return to Sydney this morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Quilty, of "Riverview," Tumut, have received word that their son, Captain W. D. Quilty, has been awarded the Military Cross.
Sergeant R. Robinson, of the Australian Division Supply Column, has been awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre for conspicuous devotion to duty and gallant conduct during the fighting in the Passchendaele sector. Before enlisting Sergeant Robinson was tenor soloist at St. Andrew's Cathedral.
Captain Geoffrey Forrest Hughes, M.C., of the Royal Flying Corps, has been brought to the notice of the Secretary of State for War for valuable services rendered in connection with the war.
