Did I tell you that Jowett is out again for a seat in the Federal Parliament for the Grampians in Victoria, vacant through the death of Dr. Carty Salmon. He has excited some adverse comment in the papers for describing himself as a farmer, when he is known to be a very rich Queensland squatter, who lives in a fine house at Toorak! He is a funny old boy, & excited the derision of the electors of Maribyrnong at the last election by addressing his first meeting inĀ evening dress. However I hope he will win this time.

James & Holly took us for a very pleasant day's excursion, in their car, to Palm Beach, beyond Newport & near Barrenjoey & the entrance to Broken Bay. They are really very kind, & we had a splendid day. Did I tell you that Michael O'Gorman Hughes travels round the town in a kharki coloured "Ford"!! He sold his Hup when Liz died, but he finds he can't get on well without a car, hence the Ford.
