of the other two machines. I was very worried because it seemed to me to be madness to attempt the journey once we ran into that awful weather. That night we slept at the aerodrome.
On Tuesday it was beautifully fine but still windy though the wind had dropped a lot. About 10 am Davis started off with his flight of 4 BEs. I left at 11 with the other Bristol that had had a "dud" engine the day before. Four RE80 were coming along later. I had a good trip & arrived at Rendcomb with my two Bristols at 12.30 – good going for a 90 mile run. S was there & just going off to Barnsley Park in his car. One of the Bristols which started on Monday was about 10 miles from Rendcomb slightly damaged but there was no news of the other. I went to Barnsley with S & had lunch with Mrs Vidal who was going to put me up for the night. Though S had his car I found that he had no intention of going to the aerodrome to see what had happened to his other the rest of his squadron. I realised what a fiasco the whole show threatened to be so I borrowed Mrs Vidal's bicycle and solemnly plugged five miles to the aerodrome to do whatever was to be done. Davis had arrived with three machines.
