I havn't got very much news to tell since my last letter which was written last Monday. Still I know you are always interested in my work, so I will describe the further development of my rather difficult task. To simplify matters I will explain that the powers above me are first, the commander of this station, next the Wing, then the Group & then the Area. A few days ago I got orders to report to the Area for an interview & naturally expected that it was about the court of enquiry demanded by my late C.O. into the adverse report he got. So I was quite interested as to what would happen. Naturally I had no intention of shielding him by saying that I considered the squadron was efficient, for by doing that I would absolutely settle myself! Heaven knows that there never was a more hopelessly inefficient squadron!
However the interview though mystifying at first turned out to be nothing to do with Major Clarke. They questioned me about my career in the R.F.C. from the very beginning up to the present moment.
