we had been done in the flight all during the day & I told him I thought it must be about seven & a half hours as my pupils had done about two hours & I had done five hours & Elliot had done some flying too. Elliott suddenly chipped in & said that it must be ten hours because he had done three himself. As an actual matter of fact he had done exactly 45 minutes, as I found this morning when I looked in the log book! I can't stand a man who is such a hopeless & unnecessary liar as that, & if things go on like this I can see an awful row ahead.

I know the C.O. does'nt realise that Elliot is lying to him, though he knows that he is a rotter & wants to get rid of him soon. I cant stand Elliot much longer and I am afraid that unless he changes his ways there will be one big row & I will be telling the C.O. that either Elliot leaves the squadron or I do. I know perfectly well that the C.O. would not let me go and I
