and their comfort must not be disturbed by any crowding of trains with mere soldiers, so there is to be no leave given for a week before and after Christmas, I believe!! So I fear that even though I will be in England I will not be able to have Christmas with Aunty & the girls. I know that the Vidals would be delighted to have me for Christmas so if I can manage it I will fly to Rendcomb and spend Christmas with them.
Cicely's wedding is to be on January 5th so I am going to try for a few days leave then. They are all busy sewing and preparing for the happy day.
Yesterday was our fortnightly holiday and I was in London with Aunty & the girls. I got to town on Wednesday night and spent Thursday with old Maurice. I called at the hospital in a taxi and took him out shopping and then to lunch at 9 Porchester Terrace. In the afternoon we did more shopping and had tea at Selfridges, after which I took him back to the hospital. I thoroughly enjoyed taking the old chap for his first real trip round town. He was able to get out of the taxi several times & walked on his crutches into the shops. He is simply magnificent and is the admiration of the doctors & nurses for his cheeriness & pluck, which have helped his recovery an awful lot. He thoroughly enjoyed the days outing.
