a dog, as we never went in for them, but it is very nice to have a good dog if it is really attached to you. 

I got a cable from the Mullinses asking me to get an official military certificate of Brendan's death for them. I will go to the War Office as soon as I get a chance and see about it. I feel so sorry for all of you at home with so much sorrow to bear & I only wish I could be with you to help you all & cheer you up.

I am afraid poor old Auntie Jeannie must be very much knocked out about dear old Brendan but I know you are all so brave in spite
