he knew. When this awful battle began we thanked God you were on leave even for the beginning of it & keep hoping providence may keep you out of it. It is about the time you would be returning to your squadron if you have not yet gone back or been recalled, so we must pray harder than ever for you darling that you may be safe, in spite of all dangers but we know what you have to face in such a struggle as this is. 

We got your dear long letter of Feb 6th last week, it came fairly quickly for war time. What a responsibility you had being O.C. with all those American officers to look after & then all that heavy transport work in
