R.F.C.
Port Meadow
Oxford
5/6/17

My own Darling Mother & Father,

It is over a week since I last wrote to you but many things have happened very suddenly since then and I have been going hammer & tongs all the time. Last Wednesday we got orders to move bag & baggage from Croydon to Oxford, and after two wild days of preparation we moved here en masse at daybreak on Friday. The next two days were taken up with the "settling down" process & since then I have been working furiously at instruction. Most of us flew over here from Croydon on Friday morning & we had a lovely trip.

So here I am back at Oxford again just about the same day of the month that I first reported here to join the R.F.C last year! We are actually about three miles out of Oxford and so far I havn't been in to the town at all. This is a most delightful spot for the summer and already I feel much more fit than I was near London. The aerodrome is a magnificent one and our camp is right next it. We live in tents on an island in the river.
