By last mail I got the cuttings from the Review about me. I am so glad you did not let them put in any "hot air" at all & kept them down to simple facts. There is only one thing I object to & that is being called "Flight Lieutenant". There ain't no such title in the R.F.C. and I am just plain 2nd Lieutenant R.F.C. The other is a term used in the R.N.A.S., [Royal Naval Air Service] so thats why I object!  Anyway I may be a "bloomin' capting" by the time this reaches you so it won't matter. Of course I only say "may". The C.O. has recommended me for it so there is a good chance of getting it but still one can never tell. Anyway if it does come through and in case I do get it I may as well explain that I will (D.V. & weather permitting) then be gazetted flight commander and temporary captain.  In the event of my being promoted, please don't adress me as flight commander or anything of that sort – just plain Captain R.F.C. Really this dissertation is rather amusing as the whole business is very uncertain at present and it may never come off! Still it is as well to prepare you for the worst!

I have been working very hard lately and have tons to do. In addition to my other duties I have been put in charge of the instruction in bomb dropping and now I have just been appointed to command
