pastel portrait (the one like yours), & we have given her an order for a third. Then we shall have one at home, & there will be one for Eileen, & we are thinking of giving the third to St. Vincent's Hospital. Eileen tells us that she has sent you snapshots of Peter, but they couldn't have reached you. She got a photographer to take one of him just before she went to Collaroy, & she was going to send you one, but I don't know whether it has gone yet. None of them give the slightest idea of the fair little fellow, with his big blue eyes, & his merry ways. Every time I look at him, I see Roger in his face.

By the bye, did I tell you that I have been asked to take the chairmanship of Amalgamated Wireless (Australia) Ltd? It is a Company formed some years ago to work the Marconi Telefunken & Poulsen systems in Australia, & the Marconi Co in England hold the majority of the shares. H. R. Denison was chairman here, but the Company has fallen out with him & he has resigned, & I have consented to take his place. Of course wireless work is much restricted during the war, but afterwards (if there ever is an afterwards) it ought to flourish. Meantime the Company has all the fitting up of Australian Steamers, & makes a good deal of plant for the East. It is a sort of thing that would appeal to you in the old days. Anyhow the work now in wartime is light, & the pay (£150) is my minimum fee for any similar job. It ought to be interesting both to you & me.

It is now one o'clock in the morning, & your mother, who is also writing to you, must be driven to bed. The post closes early tomorrow.

Heaps of love to you, Geoffrey dear, from your ever loving father

Thomas Hughes.
