land drainage has permanently affected our climate. My garden [indecipherable] thanks to [indecipherable] watering looks very pretty, the [indecipherable] in it being the Lilies, notably L. Auratum of which I have some with dark stripes, & some without stripes at all or spots & some with no spots L. Species in [indecipherable] and the [indecipherable] hardy hybrid red & crimson Begonias are really splendid. I must send them out to you.
I have a letter today from Onslow dated June 20th from the [indecipherable] Australian settlement. I begin to feel very anxious about him & [indecipherable] Macleay & will be very glad indeed when I hear of their return. This I hope to do by the end of September by telegram. I would have gone with them
