My very dear Friend

By S.S. Hankow which left a few days ago, I sent you the large Wardian Case fitted with plants I thought that you would like, & also by the same ship I sent you a list of those plants.  The case was packed very carefully by Green & if the Boat makes as good a passage

The English passion is the very incarnation of greediness,hardening of heart & selfishness.  Poor Willy Dumaresq still lingers on but without hope of winning  I do hope that you are now moving about & enjoying all that is being shown
