My very dear old friend
I flatter myself with the belief that you are becoming fast and do not intend saying anything more on the subject of your health, then that you have my heartfelt wishes for its restoration. There is no man within world now with whom I feel so thoroughly identified as yourself.
You will get this letter by the S.S. "Hankow" & by the same boat
The Honble.
Sir W. Macarthur, M.L.C.
[Cross-hatched writing]
an account of my Fernery, taken from the garden. The principal features are the result of your generosity. All your last Tree Ferns are doing admirably. I am afraid by this way that one of the grand Platyceriums is going off. God bless you dear good kind old friend.
Yrs. very affy.
Geo: Macleay
