My dear old Friend
A few hours after my letter of the 4th had been sent off to the Post I received notice of the arrival at my Station of your two parcel packages. They were sent per [indecipherable] & when opened revealed the very pleasant fact

at large. Poor [indecipherable] Dumaresq who appeared to be doing so well as to excite [indecipherable] in his Doctors, has had a relapse & is now very ill. I have despaired of him all along. It is a sad [indecipherable] loss with his young wife.
